if you dont stand for something, you will fall for everything
why do korean dramas portray their people to be very emotional and ignorant of their surroundings. even with just single eyelids they seem to have a hard time lifting it up. the rich men look like they just walked out of a GQ magazine and the girls must they always wave hello/goodbye right in a persons face. the acting, lets not even get into that, it's as if all actors in korea are given a template of expressions they need to act out. the sad thing is, it's the same in every other nation. malays and tamils always tend to overact and get overexcited with sound effects and their props, the chinese, can they get any more annoying? the australians...does everything have to be that scandalous? and to think these shows i'm refering to are prime time shows.
i don't mean to sound so synical but the entertainment, all of it. is just getting too superficial. maybe it always has been but it seems as if nowadays, there's no need to disguise ignorance and stupidity. why is it that people like drama so much? isn't the unneccessary ones they attract in their lives enough?
this year, i have tried giving reality shows and tv series the benefit of the doubt and tried watching at least one episode 'till the end but all i could think throughout is..for real?
i've always thought entertainment is for one to escape. whatever sort form medium. an expression from the people behind it and for the receiving end to interpret and develop their own expressions but if the same kind of tv shows are going to be produced, only with better looking actors and the latest fashion, and it's these kind of shows that are attracting the most viewers then it is no wonder people are becoming more alike. and i don't mean in a good, on equal grounds, no black or white alike. rather; not being able to escape from the mainstream thoughts. having no mind of their own, not standing for anything and falling for everything.
i escape myself through good books, good movies. those that don't keep it real.
if reality shows can be kept real, then by all means, keep producing them. either keep it real or not. don't give a distorted perception of reality to people.
